About the course: Green chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. This innovative approach applies a set of 12 principles to create a more sustainable and less polluting chemical industry. Key principles include preventing waste, maximising the incorporation of all materials into the final product (atom economy), and using renewable resources.
The benefits of green chemistry are wide-ranging. For the environment, it means less pollution in the air and water. For humans, it results in safer products, reduced exposure to toxic chemicals, and a safer workplace. Businesses also benefit from higher yields, reduced waste disposal costs, and increased energy efficiency. By focusing on sustainability from the molecular level, green chemistry offers a pathway to a healthier planet and a more efficient, safer, and profitable chemical industry.
